Fueling a Passion for God

High School

who we are...

High School Ministry takes place in a variety of different places and ways here at Fair Haven. It could be during our big Sunday night program called Ignite, it could be during a moment of quiet during our Discipleship Groups, or it could be meeting for Jordan for Jets. However it goes we are always looking to help students Connect, Commit, and Change. We are dedicated to these goals....

what we do...

Epic is our 'anchor' program and the front door for High School programs here at Fair Haven. It is a place where anyone can come in and be accepted, where we will play some games, see some hilarious skits, worship together and have a lot of fun, but also a place where we can talk about our lives and the ups and downs in them. We will have a mix of fun, learning, and living with each other every evening, but regardless of the night it is always a good time and a great place to bring a friend!

Want to really take your faith somewhere? That's what we do in Discipleship Groups, it's all about helping you understand what it means to really follow Jesus, as well as showing you how to follow. This will be a great time for growing, of being challenged, of learning new things and really discover what it means to be a disciple. This is also time for our most focused small groups, as we learn what it means to follow Jesus both as an individual but also as a community.

Student Leadership is designed to help students impact their world and their schools for Christ. We spend the fall teaching kids about evangelism and leadership and then placing them in leadership roles in our ministry afterwards. This is a great next step for students who are looking to grow in their faith by contributing to the kingdom!

what we teach...

Regardless of the venue all the teach at Fair Haven is designed to be meaningful and impact students where they are at and help them take a step closer to God. If that is someone who doesn't know Jesus or has known them their who life, our teaching engages the student to figure out what it means to grow as a person, as part of a community, and in their spiritual lives.

Epic: Epic uses XP3, as the starting point for what we do. XP3 is a great topical methodology that put the reality of God into experiences and encounters that kids can (and do!) relate to. It is fun and interactive, we play games, sing songs, learn, and RESPOND. Responding may be talking to some friends about what they heard, it may be writing, it may be praying, it may be sitting in silence, but we focusing on creating meaningful experiences that connect with students. You can see some examples from XP3 here and here.

Discipleship GroupsWe will be using a primarily small group discussion based method of interacting. We really hope that students learn to grow and trust in each other as they help each other follow Jesus. Much of our small group content comes from Spice Rack and we tend to look at multiple weeks of studying specific books of the Bible.
